Although the cost of living in Hong Kong is on the higher end, as compared to other Asian countries, however, it is comparatively cheaper than Western countries.

The tuition fee in Hong Kong for undergraduate, postgraduate as well as for doctoral degrees vary from HK $ 90,000 to HK $ 2,65,000 per year (~INR 7,45,000 to INR 21,94,000).

The Cost of Living per year in Hong Kong amounts to approximately HK $ 50,000, which converts to approximately INR 4,14,000 annually.

The financial side of accommodation in Hong Kong varies immensely between taking up a hostel or a one-room flat. While, you will have to pay somewhat between HK $ 15,000 to HK $ 45,000 for a hostel (~INR 1,24,000 to INR 3,72,000); for renting a one-room flat, you will have to spend approximately HK $ 96,000 to HK $ 1,80,000 annually (~INR 7,95,000 to INR 14,90,000).

Application Procedure and Admission Process

As institutions in Hong Kong enjoy a high degree of autonomy in admission of students, requirements for student admission may vary from institution to institution, and from programme to programme. Institutions will make admission decisions primarily based on the merits (e.g. academic and other non-academic achievements) of individual applications. Some institutions will invite applicants to attend interviews, whose performance at the interviews will also be taken into consideration.

In general you need to have completed secondary school, have earned satisfactory results in your country's Leaving or Aptitude exams, if offered (for example, A Levels, International Baccalaureate, SATs, etc.).

 

If English is not your mother tongue, you will need to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or equivalent exams.

Non-local graduates who have obtained an undergraduate or higher qualification in a full-time locally-accredited local programme in Hong Kong are allowed to stay in Hong Kong for 12 months without other conditions of stay. They do not even need a job offer to be eligible for the arrangement if they apply within 6 months after graduation.

However, being an international student, you are not allowed to take up anyform of employment. But you can pursue an Internship or a part-time on-campus job for not more than 20 hours per week, along with summer jobs.
